Start: Ledcentralen at Timmerstugan/VM6.
End: Åre Fjällgården
Length: Approx. 1.3 km single way
Fairy-tale path among birch forest, trolls and other beings.
Step through the Bifrost rainbow and experience Åredalen’s magical path with legends from the past. Among other things, the giant Rut in Skut who fought against the other giant, Giant in Spett.
Keep an eye out for traces of rogues and trolls who have hung their laundry outside the wooden houses. Long, long, rope ladders up among the branches. Sometimes you see them, sometimes you don’t. Some turn into stone during the day and others take shelter in the roots under the trees.
The path runs along the Bergbanan which you have on your right. At Bergbanan’s second station, near Tott, you can trip quietly under the stone arched bridge to the other side. Otherwise, the troll might hear one..
Then you have to follow the colorful stones that lead you over the bridge, up the stairs by the big stream. There is a great chance to see signs of other beings..
The forest path runs along the rippling stream where you can see lots of colorful fairy-tale untied. Finally, the Bifrost rainbow can be glimpsed again. And when you go through it, the Trollstigen is over.
Here you can either go back the same way, take another way down over the Tottbryggan bridge to the right or continue forward to the trailhead at Fjällgården. At Fjällgården there is also the Bergbanan, which takes you down to Åre square.
